According to a media report on May 9, MODHAUS, home to 24-member K-Pop girl group tripleS, is planning to debut the “biggest boy group ever”.
At this time, not much is known about the boy group, such as their exact debut date, the member line-up, or other details. However, given that NCT is currently the K-Pop boy group with the most members at 26, it can be assumed that this new boy group will have close to 30 members, if not more.
The group is also being dubbed the “younger brother group” of tripleS, even though the girl group is still very young with their debut date in February 2023.
TripleS is also unique in how they’re managed and marketed. Basically everything about the group, from their stage names to their subunit formations, is chosen based on fan votes in an attempt to let fans be directly involved in the group’s creative process. Fans earn voting tokens called “COMO” by purchasing NFT photocards known as “Objekts”, and they use these tokens to vote for and influence different aspects of tripleS’s production. The money spent on these “Objekts” seems to be the major source of income for tripleS.
The announcement of such a huge boy group under MODHAUS has many people questioning just how much money the label makes from tripleS’s activities, and whether they can really afford to debut another group, let alone such a huge one. It’s unknown whether the boy group will orchestrate in the same manner as the girl group, or if a different method will be used to make profit.
