The SM Entertainment girl group released their single — which serves as a teaser to their upcoming full album Armageddon set to drop on May 27 — earlier today. As with most popular groups, the screentime and line distribution in the track and clip have sparked discontent among fans.

A detailed fan-made video cut on X (formerly known as Twitter) revealed that Winter appears on screen for only 24 seconds in the 3-minute-long music video.

Other fan videos on YouTube also pointed out that Winter only has around 27 seconds of line in the track. This has positioned her third in terms of line distribution within the group — behind Karina with around 30 seconds and Ningning, who leads with over 35 seconds.

As expected, the news was not well-received by her fans. Given Winter’s role as the visual and lead vocalist of aespa, fans argue that she should have been more prominently featured in both the song and accompanying music video.

Despite the grievances about screen time and lines, “Supernova” has been well-received for its innovative AI concept and the overall visual presentation in the music video.

As the group prepares for the release of their full album Armageddon on May 27, fans are hopeful for a more balanced showcase of talents in the upcoming tracks. Meanwhile, the discussion continues on social media, with many advocating for Winter to be more prominent in the group’s upcoming projects, considering her responsibilities in the group and worldwide popularity.
